Borrowing In-person at Other Canadian University Libraries
- UBC Library participates in a national interlibrary agreement, the Canadian University Reciprocal Borrowing Agreement (CURBA)
- This agreement provides UBC students, faculty and staff with free borrowing privileges at participating libraries that are members of the following consortia:
- COPPUL: Council of Prairie and Pacific University Libraries
- OCUL: Ontario Council of University Libraries
- CREPUQ: Conference des recteurs et des principaux des universités du Québec
- CAUL: Council of Atlantic University Libraries
Application Process
- Before leaving UBC:
- Present your current UBCcard at the circulation desks of Koerner Library (604-822-2406) or Okanagan Campus Library (250-807-9107)
- Members in good standing will be issued a COPPUL Card valid to the end of the academic year, August 31st
- At the university library where you are seeking privileges:
- Present your COPPUL Card to staff at the circulation desk.
- A separate library card for that library will be issued to you.
- Keep your COPPUL card as you may be asked to present it again.
Accessing University of Toronto Library
- University of Toronto Library no longer provides free borrowing privileges to graduate students, faculty & staff from other Canadian universities including UBC.
- University of Toronto does not permit lending to undergraduates from other institutions whether a fee is paid or not.
Accessing University Libraries in the USA for UBC Faculty
- A reciprocal borrowing agreement exists between UBC and participating university libraries in the USA via the OCLC Reciprocal Faculty Borrowing Program for UBC faculty.
- Borrowing privileges vary among libraries and fees for services may be charged.
- Before leaving UBC:
- Present your current UBC faculty ID card at the circulation desks of Koerner Library (604-822-1443) or Okanagan Campus Library (250-807-9107).
- Members in good standing will be issued an OCLC Card valid to the end of the academic year, August 31st.
- At the university library where you are seeking privileges:
- Go to the Library Cards desk and present your OCLC card.
