Borrowing from non-UBC Libraries – InterLibrary Loan (ILL)

Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery transition from Relais to Tipasa

On June 17, 2026, UBC Library will switch to a new software platform for handling ILL and DocDel requests. Users may notice changes to request forms and the system used to track requests.

Access to our previous system will remain until June 30, 2026. However, new requests will no longer be accepted on that platform as of June 17. To access a history of your previous requests, login to the Patron Portal and select the “Completed Requests” link in the left-hand menu. This will produce a list of requests that can be exported in csv format for viewing in Excel or other programs.

Notice regarding delivery service delays:

We are currently experiencing delays to campus delivery services due to circumstances beyond the Library’s control. Please anticipate longer wait times. For ASRS items, select MAA Library as the pick-up location for the fastest delivery.

Can’t find what you want at the UBC Library?

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) will order it for you from another Library.

How long will it take: This depends on the availability at other libraries. Articles can take 1-2 business days, books at least 7 business days. In some cases, it can be longer.

Before ordering please check the following:

NOTE: Requests for items held at UBC or available online will be cancelled.

COPYRIGHT – Requests will be cancelled if they exceed what is allowed under  the Canadian Copyright Law

Community Cardholders (including Alumni) will be charged a minimum of $30.00 per filled request.
