Wireless Printer Setup (Windows 7)

Follow these instructions to set up wireless printing through your Control Panel. If you are having difficulties with the setup, please try this option.

Before you begin:

  • Wireless printing is *not* supported in Windows 7 64-bit computers.
  • You need to either be connected to myVPN or the ubcsecure network
  • You need to know the name of the printer (the yellow label on the printer or see Complete List of Public Printers for reference)
  • Colour printing is currently not supported on Windows 7.

How To Add a Printer

Step 1

Go to Start » Devices & Printers

Step 2

Click on ‘Add a printer’

Step 3

Click on ‘Add a network, wireless or Bluetooth printer’

Step 4

Click on The printer that I want isn’t listed

Step 5

Under Select a shared printer by name, type in “\\Grizzly.library.ubc.ca\[name of printer]“, then click on Next and wait for the connection to be established

Note: Printing in colour is currently not supported on Windows 7.

Step 6

Leave the printer name to the defaulted value and click on Next

Step 7

Click Finish

Check to see if the new printer you added is there
