Community Borrower
- Not for business purposes
- Non-transferable, for the cardholder’s personal use only
- Fees:

Institutional Borrower
- Available to businesses, corporations, and government departments
- Transferable among staff members of the business or corporation
- Valid for one year from the date of issue

Okanagan Community Borrower
- Valid for borrowing at UBC Okanagan Library only
- Apply at the UBC Okanagan Library circulation desk
- Fees:

Campus and Community Planning (C+CP) Community Borrower
Residents of Acadia Park and University Apartments who are family members of UBC faculty, staff and students; Student Resident Life Managers; and UBC Childcare Services staff receive free library access upon validation of their C+CP Community Services Card at the circulation desk, Koerner Library.
Resources & Services
- Basic reference assistance, access to online resources, and collections use and study are available to everyone in the libraries free of charge
- Remote access to most online resources is restricted by license agreements to current UBC students, faculty, and staff only. For restrictions on specific databases, check online resource access restrictions
- Most books can be borrowed for 2 weeks and renewed if not requested by other borrowers
- Certain materials cannot be borrowed including course reserve items, journals, reference books, and videos subject to licensing restrictions
- Interlibrary loans and Document Delivery requests are available as fee-based library services
- The maximum number of items on loan at one time is 50 (limit of 5 for BC college students)
- Fines are charged on all overdue loans
Application Process
- Apply at the circulation desks of Walter C. Koerner Library (604-822-2406), Robson Library (604-822-3725), or Okanagan Library (250-807-9107)
- Present one piece of government issued photo ID (BC Driver’s License or BCID preferred) and proof of a local address (e.g., bank statement, utility bill, or automobile registration)
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older
- Fees and restrictions apply
- All fees are non-refundable
Did You Know?
- Faculty and students visiting from other universities in Canada may be entitled to free UBC Community Borrower Library cards through reciprocal borrowing arrangements
- Lost or stolen Community Borrower cards can be reported to Koerner Library at 604-822-2406, Okanagan Library at 250-807-9107, or online
