Under UBC Library loan regulations, borrowers may appeal fines and charges.
Please note that the following are NOT acceptable reasons for appealing a fine:
- Lack of knowledge of loan regulations
- Failing to note due dates
- Failing to renew on time
- Failing to receive reminder notices, either electronically or by mail
Appeals for the reasons above will NOT be considered.
To appeal on other grounds, please complete and submit the form below. You may be contacted to provide documentation: for example, a doctor’s certificate to accompany an appeal on medical grounds.
You will normally receive a response within 7-10 working days. Many appeals will be resolved more quickly, but an appeal often entails a comprehensive search of bookstacks and online records over several days.
Please fill in all fields and give as much detail as possible. Click on “Submit” when finished.
